What is Gold Plating?
Gold plating is a process where a thin layer of gold is bonded to a base metal. The thickness of this layer, measured in microns, determines how long the piece will last.

• Flash Plating (Lowest Quality): Gold layer is very thin (0.5 microns) and tarnishes quickly—often after only a few wears.
• Traditional Gold Plating (Better Quality): The gold layer is at least 0.5 microns. This lasts longer than flash plating but will eventually tarnish with regular use.

We use Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD), an advanced vacuum coating method that provides a far more durable and beautiful gold finish than traditional plating. We generally use 18K gold PVD coating over a Stainless-Steel base for all our jewelry.
